preparation for the "Lynn Marinelli Chess Tournament,"
to be held in Kenmore on Sunday, April 13, 2008,
sponsored by Kellogg Leadership for Community
Change and the Archangel 8 Chess Academy.

Hosted by the Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department, registration will be held from 12:30-1 p.m. (registration closes at 1 p.m.) with the entry fee $5 in advance or $10 cash only at the door. In honor of Women’s History Month, female chess players will get free entry with advanced registration only. Each entrant must bring his or her own chess set, chess board, pencil and brown bag lunch; pizza and beverages will be served for an additional $5 at check-in.

"I am thrilled and grateful that a scholastic chess tournament has been named for me and will be held in the Kenmore Community Youth Center," Legislature Chair Marinelli said. "I thank the KLCC and the Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department for hosting this tournament and providing positive, productive activities for our youths that challenge their minds."

This will be a non-rated scholastic chess tournament, and UCF membership is not required. The tournament policy requires "students engage n fun and fellowship on premises," and the five rounds of Game 30, Swiss Format will start at 1:30 p.m. and following rounds will start at 2, 2:30, 3 and 3:30 p.m. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the scholastic sections.
