LEGISLATURE CHAIR MARINELLI COMMENDS WINNERS, PARTICIPANTS IN CHESS TOURNAMENT NAMED IN HER HONOR

Erie County Legislature Chair Lynn M. Marinelli (D-Buffalo, Tonawanda) recently announced and commended the winners and participants in the first Lynn Marinelli Chess Tournament held April 13.

The top finishes in the scholastic division were: first place, Benjamin W. Havey; second place, Partho Bhattacharya; third place, Garrett E. Fryar. The top finishers in the open division were: first place, Kenneth W. Regan PhD.; second place, Mark J. Johnson; third place, David R. Taber.

More than 30 chess competitors participated in the scholastic and open divisions in the tournament, sponsored by Kellogg Leadership for Community Change, the Arcangel 8 Chess Academy under Michael A. McDuffie, and the town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department.
