COUNTY LEGISLATURE TO HOLD SPECIAL SESSION JUNE 20
Erie County Legislature Chair Lynn M. Marinelli (D-Tonawanda, Buffalo) is announcing that a special session of the County Legislature will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, in the Legislature Chambers on the Fourth Floor of 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo.
The meeting will entail the immediate consideration of a Home Rule Request, asked for by New York State, from the County Executive relating to Erie County's borrowing.
"We are working with our partners in county government and the Western New York delegation of the New York State Legislature to clarify and complete the capital borrowing situation," Legislature Chair Marinelli said.
The County Legislature authorized $91,775,000 for 2007 and 2008 capital project needs. The state's legislation (S.8571/A.11610) allows Erie County to borrow without needing the approval of the Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority, provided that the county has investment-grade ratings from at least two nationally-recognized rating agencies at the time of such borrowing.
