FOR UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS GYM PAINTING, EQUIPMENT
Erie County Legislature Majority Leader Lynn M. Marinelli (D-Buffalo, Tonawanda) recently announced unanimous legislative approval of $18,000 to perform gymnasium painting, floor resurfacing and equipment for the University Heights Community Development Association
The County funds earmarked by Legislator Marinelli will pay for gymnasium painting and floor resurfacing at the Gloria Parks Community Center, 3242 Main Street, Buffalo, as well as overhaul and mechanical updates of the heating, ventilating and air conditioning system and the purchase of 200 chairs and six rectangular tables.
"The new gymnasium work, maintenance work on the HVAC system and new equipment purchases will assist the University Heights Community Development Association continue its operations and programs at the community center," Legislator Marinelli said. "The Association provides many valuable services for all ages, from children to senior citizens, and I am pleased that the Legislature joins me in recognizing the importance of the Association's place in its community and the positive effects of its work."
The University Heights Community Development Association offers community meeting space, senior recreation, housing services, volunteer income tax assistance, a day care center for children age 8 weeks to 12 years and an after-school program for children age 5-12 years. The Association is also a surplus food distribution site and offers dance classes, special events, adult athletic leagues, exercise programs, family activities, support groups, a fitness room, teen and adolescent life skills, youth and teen recreation, and housing services, counseling, acquisition, rehabilitation and sales assistance. It is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
