COUNTY LEGISLATURE CHAIR MARINELLI ISSUES STATEMENT AS COSPONSOR OF DEDICATED CULTURAL FUNDS FOR TWO YEARS

Erie County Legislature Chair Lynn M. Marinelli (D-Buffalo, Town of Tonawanda) is issuing this statement to accompany the cultural finding resolution clocked in to the Legislature, which accompanies this release.

"I am a proponent of dedicated funding for culturals. I am a co-sponsor of a resolution to support 3 percent of property taxes, a steady state amount of $5.3 million - while pursuing options. If we agree that cultural tourism is an economic growth area, then pursuing this makes sense. I agree with Governor Eliot Spitzer, who stated that cultural institutions are a foundation for urban growth. As a representative of District 11, constituents support County funding for our culturals as part of economic growth."
