Erie County Legislature Chairperson Lynn M. Marinelli (D-Buffalo, Tonawanda) is advising people who are receiving their absentee ballots for the November 7, 2006, election that Erie County Proposition No. 1 is the proposition on changes to the Erie County Charter. This includes improving financial oversight and increasing the powers of the county comptroller that the County Legislature unanimously approved.

"I welcome and urge the absentee ballot users and all voters in Erie County to join me in supporting this proposition of County Charter changes," Chairperson Marinelli said. "These changes will increase oversight to the comptroller on budgetary and fiscal matters and continue our efforts to reform the county's financial actions."
