LEGISLATORS MARINELLI & IANNELLO ANNOUNCE
FLU, PNEUMONIA IMMUNIZATION SESSION WILL BE HELD
AT ELLWOOD FIRE HALL NOVEMBER 14
Erie County Legislature Chairwoman Lynn M. Marinelli (D-Buffalo, Tonawanda) and Legislator Michele Iannello (D-Kenmore, Tonawanda) announce that the Visiting Nurses Association of WNY Inc. will hold a flu and pneumonia immunization session from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, at the Ellwood Fire Hall, 1000 Englewood Avenue, Kenmore.
The immunization session, cosponsored by Kaleida Health, the State University at Buffalo School of Nursing, Time Warner and Medline Industries Inc., is part of the 14th annual VNA Immunization Campaign and will be administered by registered nurses who are certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and is open to people age 18 and older.
"I recommend that people who want to be immunized from the flu and pneumonia take advantage of this valuable program," Chairwoman Marinelli said. "While most people do not underestimate the seriousness of pneumonia, they may not realize that while most people suffer from the flu for a few days, about 36,000 Americans die each year from the flu."
The cost of the immunization program, which is $25 for the flu vaccine and $40 for the pneumonia vaccine, is covered by Medicare Part B, Independent Health, Encompass 65, Univera, Senior Choice and Community Senior Blue. The fees will benefit the VNA Charity Care Program.
To register for the Ellwood immunization program, call Legislator Marinelli's office at 832-0493; for more information, call 862-3588 or visit the web site www.vna-wny.org/flu.
