LEGISLATOR REYNOLDS ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HEARING ON EXEMPTING RESIDENTIAL SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEMS EQUIPMENT FROM SALES TAX

Erie County Legislator Robert B. Reynolds (D-Hamburg, Evans) is announcing a public hearing will be held regarding the prospect of exempting the sale and installation of residential solar energy systems equipment from the County of Erie sales and compensating use tax formulas at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the Erie County Legislative Chambers on the 4th floor of Old County Hall, 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo.

The State of New York has already amended the New York State Tax Law in relation to exempting the sale and installation of residential solar energy systems equipment from state sales and compensating use taxes. Additionally, New York State has also granted local municipalities the option to elect such exemption from their sales and compensating use taxes in each county.

This public hearing will allow all interested parties the opportunity to be heard concerning the exemption from the sale of such solar equipment and installation. For further information, please contact Legislator Robert Reynolds at 649-2640.
