LEGISLATOR REYNOLDS ANNOUNCES COUNTY SEEKING MORE LIFEGUARDS
TO KEEP BEACHES OPEN LONGER THIS SUMMER
Erie County Legislator Robert B. Reynolds Jr. (D-Hamburg, Evans) is announcing that Erie County is seeking applicants for the 26 lifeguard positions that will be open at two county beaches this summer.
"The 26 positions the County Legislature approved in the 2008 budget are an increase from the 11 part-time lifeguards we employed in 2007," Legislator Reynolds said. "We plan to hire these lifeguards because we are expanding the hours that the Bennett and Wendt beaches are open due to the strong request from county residents to keep the beaches open longer this summer. The plan is to have the beaches open from 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. daily this summer."
The spring cleaning of the beaches, both on Lake Erie in Derby, has been conducted by the Erie County Department of Parks and Recreation. For applications or more information, interested people can call the County Department of Parks and Recreation at 858-7037 or visit the Erie County web site at www.erie.gov/parks/life.
