REYNOLDS ANNOUNCES EMERGENCY HEAP OUTREACH
Erie County Legislator Robert B. Reynolds (D-12) announced today an emergency HEAP Outreach in the Town of Boston.
"On Tuesday, May 13, 2008, I am sponsoring an emergency HEAP Outreach at the Boston Town Hall located at 8500 Boston State Road, in the Court Room," Reynolds stated. The need for another HEAP Outreach was essential by the outpouring of phone calls that our office and the Town of Boston Clerk's Office received. "They will conduct interviews from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., but will have a staff member on site at 8:00 a.m. to sign in applicants and set up for the day. Please do not show up any earlier than 8:00 a.m., given that the doors will be locked. I encourage all constituents of District 12 in need of financial aide for their winter heating bills to attend the outreach and apply for assistance."
HEAP officials will guarantee service to the first 80 applicants who sign in at the Boston Outreach, so it is advisable to arrive at the HEAP Outreach site around 8 a.m. Applicants should come prepared with:
- 1 form of ID for all household members (birth cert., license, or SS card)
- Proof of income for all HH members received within last 30 days (pay stubs, social security or pension award letters, proof of child support, rental income, unemployment benefits, worker's comp., etc.)
- Current shut-off notices, if applicable
- If applicant is missing any information, they will allow residents to mail the information to HEAP in order to complete the application process.
HEAP is a federally funded fuel assistance program designed to help those in need with rising energy costs. The Erie County Department of Senior Services is responsible for outreach and certification of the non-public assistance population of Erie County age 60+ and certain segments of the disabled population. Eligibility for participation is based upon gross family income and household size. Public Assistance and Food Stamp recipients automatically receive Regular HEAP.
