REYNOLDS ANNOUNCES SALES TAX DISTRIBUTION TO TOWNS AND VILLAGES
Erie County Legislator Robert B. Reynolds (D-Hamburg, Evans)) announced today that the distribution of net collections from the "Erie County Sales and Compensating Use Tax" for June, July and August 2008 is currently at four and three quarters (4.75%) percent. These figures are from New York State.
"I am pleased to announce that the County continues to share revenues from our Sales Tax base. I know that the taxpayers of Erie County are frustrated that our Sales Tax is still in effect," Legislator Reynolds said. "However, I would like to show the residents that the County shares a considerable amount of these funds with our School Districts to keep the quality of education that we currently provide, as well as with the six (6) towns and four (4) villages that I represent to assist each of them with their costs. Therefore, in order to keep the public informed on how their hard-earned tax dollars are spent, the following is the distribution for my district for the third quarter of 2008."
Of the $142,630,299.95 that was collected in the third quarter of 2008, $3,457,941.00 was returned to the School Districts in the 12th District:
| Frontier Central School District | $1,270,182.51 |
| Hamburg Central School District | $926,810.63 |
| Evans-Brant Central School District | $669,751.98 |
| Eden Central School District | $423,091.89 |
| North Collins Central School District | $168,104.29 |
Of the $142,630,299.95 that was collected in the third quarter of 2008, $2,492,418.40 was returned to the Towns and Villages in the 12th District:
| Town of Hamburg | $1,276,331.83 |
| Village of Hamburg | $239,328.97 |
| Town of Evans | $349,598.47 |
| Village of Angola | $38,044.55 |
| Town of Boston | $243,706.76 |
| Town of Eden | $229,083.84 |
| Town of North Collins | 57,329.14 |
| Village of North Collins | $16,635.27 |
| Town of Brant | $42,360.08 |
"I am hopeful that once the taxpayers see the amount of money that the County shares with local governments and with our school systems, they will be better informed as to where their hard-earned tax dollars are distributed to the community," Legislator Reynolds concluded.
