Listed below are a few of the most common exemptions the Town of Newstead offers its residents. Because exemptions directly affect your tax bill, careful attention should be paid to the eligibility requirements.

The following forms are available for your convenience. Each form has certain requirements that must be submitted with the application. If you have any questions, please call the Assessor's office for help.
- RP467 is the application needed for applying for the Senior/ Enhanced STAR exemption (over age 65)
(include proof of age, income and ownership and residency) - RP458 is the application needed to apply for the Veteran's Exemption
(include your DD 214 form) - RP425 is the application needed to apply for the Basic STAR exemption (under age 65)
(include a copy of your NYS Driver's License with current address or your Voter's registration card) - RP305c is the form needed to accompany your Agricultural exemption application if the land is rented.
