Bike Path Information

The Akron-Newstead bike path provides a safe, scenic setting for bicycles, rollerblading, walking, and running. The path begins in the Village of Akron at the intersection of Cedar Street (Rt. 93) and Eckerson Avenue, and runs southwest along the old railroad lines, passing through Jackson Street, Hake Road, Clarence Center Road, Barnum Road, Davison Road, ending approximately 7½ miles later at Salt Road in Clarence. The Village of Akron portion of the path is 1¼ miles long and the Town of Newstead section is 6¼ miles long. The Town of Clarence section is currently under construction, and is set to be completed in the fall.

Newly added in 2000, is an extension which begins between Clarence Center Road and Barnum Road, running northwest. This new extension is approximately 2¼ miles from the Newstead town line, and connects with the Clarence bike path system.

At each of the road junctions there are warning gates and benches to stop for a rest along your journey. At the Jackson Street junction there is a water fountain.

No ATV's or snowmobiles are allowed on the bike path.
