1. Palm Dome:
This central dome area is 67 feet high and houses the palm tree collection. Palms are noted for their beauty as well as their economic importance. Most palms grow very straight without branches and produce a tuft of very large leaves as their terminus. The collection contains species from the Americas, Pacific Islands and the Mediterranean.

2-3. Ferns, hydrophytes and Cycads:
The aquatic display area and waterfall area provide a humid atmosphere for ferns, hydrophytes and cycad collections. The waterfall area provides changing displays of tropical plants such as orchids. The height of the end dome is 36 feet.

4. Cactus:
Members of this plant family exhibit great diversity of form. Some are small and resemble stones in shape and coloring, others form tall columns. The thick skin of these plants flourish in dry, sunny climates. Cacti are capable of storing large quantities of water and many bear showy flowers.

5. Assorted Plants:
This area provides a large selection of plants that can be found in everyone's garden. Certain of these plant families provide immense variety. For instance, begonias have a variety of size, growth, foliage, and flowers that few plants can equal.

6. Hanging Plants:
Many plants in this area are native to the tropic areas of the Americas. There is a great diversity within this plant family. Both the pineapple and Spanish Moss are distinct examples of this plant type.

6.a/b. Growing Ranges:
These are work areas where plant cuttings are rooting and new growth begins. These areas are not open to the public.

7. Potting Area:
This work area provides space for plant potting close to the exhibiting areas. Another similar area is provided in the 1965 Growing Range located to the rear of the main building.

8. Orchids and Anthuriums:
A variety of tropical flowering plants are located in this area. anthuriums are best known for their showy leaves and flowers. The orchid collection housed in this area and in the adjacent growing range offers many species which will be featured as part of the changing waterfall display in area 3.

8. a/b Growing ranges:
Similar to 6 a/b, these areas are not open to the public.

9. Changing Display:
This area will feature species that have been cultivated in the growing ranges. This display changes on a regular basis throughout the year.

10.a Marketplace and Children's Learning Garden:
This area includes living plants used everyday for food, clothing and medicines. A contribution from Citibank, New York State, N.A. enabled the county to establish the Learning Garden.

11. Show House and Floral House:
Floral displays are featured in the area. The traditional Spring and Autumn flower display and December poinsettia display as well as special events throughout the year make this a continuous source of color and beauty. The height of the end dome is 36 feet.

12. Edible Fruits:
Plants in this area produce foodstuffs know to nearly everyone, Citrus and fruit trees as well as coffee, pineapple, carob and pepper plants provide at certain times of the year a sweetly-scented walk through this display area.
