History
The Bureau of Forestry was started in November 1927 and is celebrating its 75th year. The Forestry ensures a natural setting for family hikes and provides protection, preservation as well as enjoyment for generations to come. The Park offers 3486 scenic acres with 13 new bridge crossings connecting 8 miles of trails. It contains a variety of Pines, hardwood trees and rolling terrain. The Forestry's wood is milled & transported for use in all other Erie County Departments.

Eastern White Pine, Red Pine, Austrian Pine, Scotch Pine, Sugar Maple, Red Maple, Norway Spruce, Evergreen, American Elm, Apple, European Ash, Pussy Willow, Eastern Hemlock, Eastern Horn bean, Basswood, Yellow Birch, Witch Hazel, American Beech, Big Tooted Aspen, Black Cherry, Thorn Apple.
- Mammals
White Tail Deer, Coyote, Mountain Lion, Raccoon, Cottontail Rabbit, Grey Squirrel, Woodchuck, Opossum, Red Fox, Grey Fox, Skunk, Mink, Muskrat, Porcupine, Weasel.
- Birds
You can rise and shine for an early morning walk and observe a variety of birds. So bring your binoculars for a closer look at the wild turkey, hawks, owls, eagles, turkey buzzards and other amazing birds.

Activities:
There are many great outdoor activities to experience in all seasons. In addition, you can visit the Rock Garden with its decorative shrubbery and stop by the memorial too. There is an outdoor athletic sports field and family picnic grills.
- Summer
There are 3 marked hiking trails: Starbuck trail- 3 miles long, Bottom Creek Trail- 2 ¾ miles long, and the Silentwood Trail -2 ½ miles long. The park is also noted for its many Equestrian trails. These trails take the adventuresome off the "beaten path" through the forest along the picturesque landscapes.
- Winter:
The Forestry offers snowmobile trails, snowshoeing, hiking, and cross country skiing.
