Children Safety Online
Parents Should Set Rules Governing Use of Family Computer
Parents should place the home computer in a Family Room, or other open area where children's online activities can be monitored. Do not place a computer in a child's bedroom where undesirable activities will go unnoticed.
Parents should establish rules governing the use of the computer including the Internet. Children should be restricted from use of the Internet, unless an adult is there to supervise. When setting rules, time of day and length of time on the Internet should be considered.
Children should be warned not to give out any personal information, such as, their name, address, telephone number, school name, or any other personal information.
Children should tell their parents immediately if they come across anything that makes them feel uncomfortable.
Children should NEVER agree to get together with someone they "meet online", and should Immediately tell their parents if someone asks them to meet.
