Divisions

The Erie County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to protecting and serving the residents and visitors of Erie County, New York. To accomplish our goals, we patrol on land, water and in the air.

The Administrative Services Division provides support services for all Divisions of the Office of Erie County Sheriff.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office Civil Process Division's purpose and function is to serve and execute the various legal processes issued by and for the several non-criminal courts of New York State and for jurisdictions of other states and countries throughout the world.

The Erie County Holding Center in the City of Buffalo is a pre-trial, maximum security, detention facility. The Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden, New York is a medium security facility which can hold inmates of various classifications.

Visiting schedule at the Erie County Holding Center:

Saturday through Wednesday from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Visitor Signup: beginning at 6:30 AM and ends at 1:45 PM for 1-hour visits and 2:15 PM for half hour visits.
There will be no visiting on holidays.

The Patrol Services Division is charged with law enforcement duties, traffic enforcement, crime prevention and service to the citizens of Erie County.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) provides victims of domestic violence access to services and courts through early intervention to provide safety and support. Our highly trained DV advocates understand the criminal justice, social services and Family court systems. They are familiar with your communities' resources and can provide you with appropriate referrals. Most importantly, our experienced advocates assist you in better understanding the legal system and how to work with the various programs to lead to the best outcome possible for the victim.
