July 30, 2009- Cattaraugus Indiana Reservation- Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard reports that a 27-year-old City of Buffalo man was arrested for writing a series of bad checks on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputies took a series of bad check reports from numerous smoke shops on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. The checks totaled approx $3000.00 all for tobacco products.
Deputy Darryl DeMari investigating a report found that the suspect was a Jason R.Smith age 27 of Davey St Buffalo. Deputy DeMari responded to his residence on Davey St Buffalo. The suspect saw the deputies patrol vehicle and took off running. After a foot chase and with the assistance of Buffalo Police Mr. Smith was apprehended by Deputies Weiss and Ellis.
He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and charged with Issuing Bad Checks, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration
