ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD CHARGES IN TOWN OF ALDEN

August 15, 2009- Town of Alden- 2044 HRS- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of 2 people for 5 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Deputy Gene Nati responded to a call of a 2 year old child wandering around outside within 30 feet of a pond unsupervised. The child’s father was located sleeping in his home, unaware of the whereabouts of the child. The house was found to be in squalor and Child Protective Services was called and responded to the scene. CPS removed the children for protective custody.

Deputy Nati charged Elias J. Witmer, age 30 and Candie Witmer age 26 of the Town of Alden with 5 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Both were remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $250 bail each, returnable to Town of Alden court.
