DWI ARREST IN TOWN OF NEWSTEAD
August 29, 2009- Town of Newstead- 045 HRS: Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of an Akron man on driving while intoxicated charges.
While enroute to another call for service, Deputy Robert Kolmetz came across a property damage auto accident. Shawn A. Augustino age 18, of Akron, NY was operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle on Cummings Rd. The vehicle's brakes failed, went off the road and struck a tree. Deputy Kolmetz's investigation resulted in the arrest of Mr. Augustino for Driving While Intoxicated and various traffic offenses. Mr. Augustino did submit to a breath test with a result of 0.10% BAC.
Mr. Augustino was released to a 3rd party on Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable to Town of Newstead Court.
