DESERTION ARREST IN VILLAGE OF NORTH COLLINS
September 6, 2009- Village of North Collins: 3:00 PM- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports that a man from Bronx, New York was arrested in the Village of North Collins with- desertion from the United States Army. A routine traffic stop on Route 62 by Deputies Jeffrey Hicks and Shawn Yong found that there was a warrant for Joseph Martinex, 27, of 2431 Crotona Avenue, Bronx.
The warrant for military desertion was issued in May of 2004 and military officials confirmed that they would extradite Mr. Martinez. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending processing and extradition. It is unknown, at this time, where Mr. Martinez was stationed or exactly when he deserted.
