ARREST FOR WEAPON POSSESSION AND ATTEMPTED ASSAULT ON GRAND ISLAND

September 6, 2009- Grand Island, N.Y.- 11:15AM- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports that a Niagara Falls woman is in the Erie County Holding Center following an incident on Grand Island Boulevard in which Deputy Robert Rine, who was on routine patrol, observed an altercation in the parking lot of the Grand Island Plaza. When he approached, he realized that several people were watching a fight between two women, one of whom was armed with a knife.

Patricia Burch, 29 of 19 TH Street in Niagara Falls, was arrested by Deputy Rine and Deputy Brian Roussie. She was charged with attempted assault; possession of a weapon, harassment, disorderly conduct and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

No one was injured in the altercation. The endangering a minor charge was added because Burch's two young children were present and witnessed the incident. Burch was taken to the Holding Center pending arraignment in the Town of Grand Island Court.
