September 12, 2009- Buffalo, New York – 9:30 AM- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports that a Lockport man was arrested early Saturday morning for attempting to bring what appears to be heroin into the Holding Center.
Richard Muth, age, 32, was registering to visit an inmate in the facility when Deputy Neal Russon noticed that he was attempting to conceal a small packet of white powder. The subject was immediately detained and questioned, and he admitted to having purchased the drug while on his way to the Holding Center and that he was going to bring it to an inmate.
Muth was charged with promoting prison contraband in the first degree; a Class D felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance eight he seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor. He was held in the Holding Center pending his arraignment in the Buffalo City Court.
