ASSAULT/CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON

September 12, 2009- Village of Springville 0320 HRS:- Sheriff Tim Howard reports the arrest of a Village of Springville man for assault and criminal possession of a weapon following an argument in a parking lot on Franklin Street in Springville.

Erie County Sheriff's Deputies Jason Bouton and Don Hoelscher responded to a parking lot on Franklin Street in the Village of Springville for a reported fight in progress. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a victim had slight cuts on his thumb and cheek from a knife used by 46 year old William Babcock of Franklin Street in Springville. First Aid arrived and checked out the victim, cleaned the wounds, and released him. Babcock was on location and placed under arrest for assault second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. Babcock was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and held pending his arraignment in the Village of Springville Court.
