September 12, 2009- Town of Elma- 2225 HRS: Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports the arrest of an East Aurora man on the above mentioned charges. Deputy Tom Meredith attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle on Jamison Road for various traffic violations. The vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of Jamison and Bowen and quickly pulled into a Bowen Road business; the driver attempted to evade Deputy Meredith. Meredith caught the driver as he exited the vehicle; the driver fought with him and after a brief struggle, Deputy Meredith took the driver into custody.
The driver, Shawn Claybolt, 28, of East Aurora, did submit to a breath test with a result of .18% BAC. Claybolt was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and aggravated DWI.
Claybolt was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center without bail. Upon arrival to the Holding Center Sally Port, Claybolt became combative and disorderly, resulting in additional charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
