October 4, 2009- Village of Akron- Sheriff Tim Howard reports the arrests of two area men for DWI. Deputy Gene Nati stopped Brian Stepniak, age 34 of Main Street Akron, for driving on the wrong side of the road. Stepniak refused to cooperate and would not complete any field sobriety tests, nor submit to taking a roadside alco sensor. After being placed under arrest, he then refused to submit to a breath test. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center on no bail, pending his arraignment in the Village of Akron Court. He had been driving on an expired driver's license.
October 4, 2009- Village of Springville- Deputy Doug Grube stopped Mark E. Goggin, age 56 of West Main Street in Springville, for failing to signal a turn. After failing several roadside sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest. Goggin refused to submit to a breath test. He was also found to be driving a vehicle that had not been properly registered for the last two years. He was released to a third party on traffic summonses pending a future date in the Village of Springville Court.
Both vehicles were towed with a 12 hour hold placed on them.
