October 13, 2009- Town of Colden- 9:59 PM- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports the arrest of a Town of Colden man on various charges stemming from a domestic incident with his wife. Michael C. Liberta, age 31, was found by deputies in his front yard waving a machete and making threats. Deputy Chris Parisi requested backup as Liberta retreated into his residence. Deputy Amy Klimowicz arrived on the scene and with assistance of transport deputies, was able to convince the suspect to surrender.
Liberta was taken into custody without further incident. Liberta was charged with criminal mischief in the second degree for extensive damage which he caused to the interior of the residence, menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center on no bail pending his arraignment in the Town of Colden Court.
